The Stormy Daniels – Donald Trump story isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Trump’s legal team is now demanding the sum of $20 million from the pornstar after she broke a non-disclosure deal signed between her and Trump’s lawyer.
Now Trump’s lawyer claims that porn actress Stormy Daniels is liable for at least $20 million for violating the nondisclosure agreement she says prevents her from discussing her affair with the president, according to a Friday court filing. A lawyer representing Michael Cohen’s Essential Consultants limited liability company — which allegedly paid Daniels over $100000 under the agreement — made the filing, saying that the pornstar violated the agreement ‘at least 20 times.’
It keeps getting more interesting doesn’t it?
How come $20 million?
According to what was filed in court, the settlement agreement provides for liquidated damages of $1 million per instance of the breach. Considering the fact that the pornstar is accused of breaching the agreement 20 times, you now understand why Trump and his team settled on that number. But I have a feeling that Trump will not be desperately looking forward to getting that money. But that’s my opinion.
Stormy allegedly signed the agreement regarding the affair the two of them had in 2006 before the 2016 election, which led to accusations of illegally providing contribution to the president’s campaign. You have to ask yourself why? If she had come out with the allegations before the elections, someone else would be occupying the White House. That’s how. By keeping silent, she helped Trump clinch the presidency in one way or the other.
Stormy’s lawyer, Michael Avenatti, had filed a suit on behalf of the pornstar, real name Stephanie Clifford, earlier on this month in an attempt to have the alleged nondisclosure agreement tossed away. In the suit, he claimed that the Trump-Stormy intimate relationship had started in 2006 and continued into most of 2007.
The Court will decide
The court proceedings to decide whether the two parties can liquefy the agreement will kick on on July 12. Stormy is even willing to give back the funds paid to her in the said agreement. But why would she be willing to do that? Will she get more money maybe? I won’t be the one to decide.
But according to the letter written by Avenatti to Cohen, she wants the agreement dissolved so she can be free to speak openly and freely about her past relationship with the president and the attempts to shut her up. Also, she wants to be able to publish text messages, pictures and videos relating to the president, said the letter.
The nondisclosure agreement was supposed to be signed by both Stormy and President Trump using the pseudonyms Peggy Peterson and David Dennison respectively. However, Trump’s signature was never on the document, which gives Stormy and her lawyer the basis to have the agreement thrown out and release her from all forms of obbligations.
A possible sex scandal looming for the American president perhaps? That seems like the most likely outcome.
Criticized the court filing
Perhaps, Stormy and her team are far from impressed with Trump’s decision to sue Stormy for $20 million. Avenatti went on Twitter to condemn what he felt was a bullying strategy from the president and his legal team.
“The fact that this president is pursuing over $20M in bogus ‘damages’ against a private citizen, who is only trying to tell the public what really happened, is remarkable. Likely unprecedented in our history. We are NOT going away, and we will NOT be intimidated,” read the post on the social media page.
“The filing today is yet another bullying tactic from the president and Mr. Cohen. They are now attempting to remove this case to federal act to increase their chances that the matter will be decided in private arbitration, thus hiding the truth from the public,” he said.
Why keeping this affair quiet
Anyone with common sense will agree that Trump has more than a million reasons why he would want to keep the affair quiet.
To start with, the president would lose the religious voters who voted for him in 2016. No religious person would want to be associated with someone who used to fuck a pornstar. For sure, they are very judgmental. The whole issue also seems to be interfering on the relationship between Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. Those are more than enough reasons for the president to want to keep the affair quiet, would you agree?
And in yet another fact, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders condemned any threat against Stormy, who claims she was threatened with physical violence if she came out in public with details of the alleged sexual affair.
“Obviously we take the safety and security of any person seriously,” Sanders said in a statement.
She also stated that the White House would ‘condemn anyone threatening any individual, but I have no knowledge of that situation.”
Any attempt to get answers from White House officials has so far ended just in denials by both Trump and all his presidential team.
Possible sex tape?
While the president and his team completely denied that there was no such a relationship as alleged by Stormy, the pornstar has been smart enough not to confirm or deny the claims in her several talks with the media. Her friends, on the other hand, confirm that the two indeed had a sexual relationship. There are rumors of a possible sex tape being somewhere.
Finally
So far, neither of the parties is willing to back down, the battle lines have been drawn. We can wait and see who will draw the first line.
Stormy has even launched an online fundraising campaign to help her raise her legal fees and return the money paid to her. At this rate, she might need more than that if she loses and is required to pay the $20m.
